To paraphrase a common expression meaning complete protection of a person from the hardships of life, one can characterize the mysterious Nepal, protected from the whole world by the mountain peaks of the Himalayas and Tibet, as a place located "in the bosom of the Buddha." In this country of contradictions, whose national pattern contains more than a hundred different shades (about 100 nationalities, 70 languages), seemingly incompatible religions and cultures have given rise to a unique ethnos, the spiritual essence of which stands far above any differences.
Where to find Nepal on the map
The State of Nepal (Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal) is surrounded by two large states – China (Tibet). in the north and India in the south (separated from India by the great Himalayan range). This small Asian country, resembling a pea pod in its outlines on the world map, is located directly in three dimensions – numerous villages of Nepal climb the mountain steps of the Himalayas, reaching a height of up to nine kilometers (the highest mountain in the world is Everest - 848 m, a significant part of the territory of Nepal is located at a three-kilometer height).
This mountain skyscraper resembles in its structure the division into castes accepted in Nepal – Nepalis living on the "upper levels" of the country differ from the population of lower levels in language and culture, as the Japanese from the Russians. In the Nepalese capital, Kathmandu, the time indicators differ from Moscow by 1 hour and 45 minutes. Nepali is a common language for all Nepalis, supplemented with elements of Hindi; you can pay in Nepali rupees in Nepal's stores
Climate
Like the motley variety of nationalities of Nepal, the climate of this country also differs in a wide range – from tropical to Arctic on mountain peaks, where, unlike the dense jungle–covered southern region, tundra and eternal glaciers prevail - snow falls here in winter. Summer in Nepal begins in April; in June and July, heavy rains fall under the influence of the monsoon, bringing with them the harvest season in August-September. Depending on the climatic zones, of which there are six in Nepal, the vegetation cover varies from jungles, deciduous and coniferous forests, to alpine forests and, eventually, glaciers.
History
Long before the beginning of our era, the fertile lands formed by the bottom of a dried-up mountain lake in the area of the modern city of Kathmandu were inhabited by the Newari people, who brought Buddhism to Nepal. Until 2007, Nepal was considered a Kingdom, but later, after the civil war, Nepal was proclaimed a Federal Democratic Republic.
Attractions
It is impossible to describe in a nutshell all the wealth of cultural and natural attractions of Nepal. In any city, be it Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Pokhara, Bhaktapur, the architectural heritage of this amazing country is concentrated, which has great historical and aesthetic value. Nepal's magnificent natural treasure trove (Chitwan and Sagarmatha National Parks) attracts many ecotourism enthusiasts who want to explore the inaccessible peaks (240 peaks up to 6 km high) and conquer numerous turbulent rivers.
