The strategy of betting on the Catch-up

Description of the Catch-up strategy

Catch-up betting strategy is called so because the player recovers previous lost bets, that is, "catches up" with them. This is a series system in which the size of the next bet combined with the odds should make up for previous losses and give a certain profit. After winning a bet the catch-up series is interrupted and begins again - with the minimum bet.

Depending on the tactics used and the level of odds, there are the main types of Rewards:

  • Martingale system. It uses odds of 2.00-2.50. This level of bookmaker quotes allows you to not resort to complex mathematical calculations. it is enough to double the size of each next bet in the series.
  • Soft Catch-up. Here the bettor is guided not so much by the odds, but by his own analysis of events. Therefore, this strategy is more suitable for sports betting. The amount of each next bet is calculated by the formula:
  • C=(V P)/(K-1).

Notations:

  • C - the size of the bet sought;
  • V - expected winning of the current bet (take into account the necessity to get profit);
  • P - the lost money in the previous bets;
  • K - coefficient of the current bet.

An example of strategy usage

For an example, let's take the "Catch-up on the Outsider" in soccer. In the 2019/20 season in the English Premier League, London's West Ham showed disappointing results. Because of this, good odds were given on its victory. As an example, here is a series of bets on the victory of this team:

  • "West Ham vs Brighton. Bet - $10. Odds - 2.45. Score: 3-3. The bet lost.
  • "Manchester City" - "West Ham". Odds - 18. Calculation (20 10)/(18-1)=1.7 USD. Rounded to the greater and put $2. Score: 2-0. The bet lost. Total loss - $12.
  • "Liverpool - West Ham. Caf - 16. (22 12)/(16-1)=1.6$. Again, we bet $2. Score: 3-2. Loss. Total minus - $14.
  • "West Ham vs Southampton. Odds - 2.60. (24 14)/(2.6-1)=17.5. Bet $18. Score: 3-1. Bet won - $18x2.6=$46.8. Net winnings - $28.8 dollars. Taking into account previous losses, the profit is $28.8-14=$14.8.

In this example, the risk is reduced due to the fact that we bet on the underdog. High odds were given to stronger teams. That's why the sums of bets were rather small. This tactic allows us to decrease the probability of big losses on the long side. The choice of English championship is due to the fact that even teams at the bottom of the standings win games with a certain frequency.

Result

Catch-up strategy in betting parimatch alternative link should be used consciously. Beginners are advised to be wary of it. It is not necessary to simply use a mathematical model, blindly doubling the amounts placed. Mathematical calculations should be supported by knowledge of the sport whose events are chosen for betting.
