The Standing Committee on Finance has more questions about TOTO and Holland Casino

The Standing Committee on Finance has more questions about TOTO and Holland Casino and their activities in the regulated gambling market. The PVV once again urges the privatization of the two companies. The SP is still bothered by the King TOTO campaign.

Last Friday, the Standing Committee on Finance (chaired by Judith Tielen (VVD, photo left) submitted written questions about the participations policy of the central government. In addition to questions about, for example, the Port of Rotterdam, KLM, Schiphol, and the NS, the various members also had questions about Holland Casino and the Dutch Lottery. Outgoing Finance Minister Wopke Hoekstra (CDA, photo right) is expected to answer the questions.

The members of the D66 group question the fact that the Dutch government is active in the Dutch online gaming market with two competing state-owned companies.

The PVV wants to know why these two state participation have not yet been privatized. The PVV is also curious about the first results of TOTO and Holland Casino now that the gambling market has opened up. Finally, the PVV Group wants to know how many licenses have been applied for and how many have been granted.

A look at the website of the Dutch Gaming Authority answers at least the latter question. At the time of writing, the regulator has granted 11 licenses: 10 as the initial group, plus Jack's Online in the process, which was announced last week at https://indiancustomer.in/.

For the CDA group, "feelings of discomfort are beginning to grow about participation in the Dutch State Lottery, despite the interesting budgetary implications." So on that front, it joins the PVV, although the CDA fraction focuses explicitly on Dutch Lottery and not on Holland Casino.

The members of the SP Group once again call attention to the King TOTO commercials of the Dutch Lottery. The party believes that these commercials are aimed at young people and wants something done about it.

The PvdA does not say a word about the Dutch Lottery or the TOTO and wants more information about Holland Casino and its online platform. It wants to know from the minister what the strategy of Holland Casino Online is and how it is ensured that people do not become addicted to gambling. It also wants to know how many people gamble at Holland Casino instead of other providers.

The other parties that are members of the Standing Committee on Finance (Volt, SGP, PvdD, JA21, GroenLinks, Fraction Den Haan, FVD, DENK, ChristenUnie, BIJ21, and BBB) had no questions about Holland Casino or Dutch Lottery.

The Standing Committee on Finance had previously asked questions about the annual report on the management of state holdings. At that time, it wanted to know from the Minister whether Holland Casino and TOTO were competing with each other online.

The Permanent Committee on Justice and Security recently asked how many fines the Ksa will hand out. Last week it received an answer to this question.
