In the middle of the field is Isaac Rubinchik's phantasmagoria shop, assembled from pieces of plywood, boards, white sheets resembling sails, pasted with newspaper clippings. The main character Isaac Rubinchik receives visitors: a professor, a policeman, a young couple. And for everyone in his store there is what they need (even if they themselves do not know what they came for).

Isaac is in constant dialogue with his wife, who is not with God. And if at the beginning it seems that this is such a form of conversation with oneself, then already in the middle of the film it becomes clear that Isaac is always addressing the viewer, not getting tired of asking questions.

Time after time, soldiers, frightened women, and children appear in the frame, focused on the game. They are visible on the horizon or approaching the store and resemble the ghosts of the hero's memories, which he mostly ignores.

The main character works as a postman and delivers "funerals". Unable to face the despair and pain of the addressees, one day he fakes a telegram. Therefore, the postman loses his job, but this does not prevent him from being sure that he has found his purpose - to bring good to people. More precisely, what he considers good for these people.

Tragicomedy on the verge of absurdity highlights the defenselessness and the hope of finding a place for humanism and goodness for goodness' sake, despite all the frenzy that is happening in the world. The idealized dream of the main character, launches a number of funny and sad situations, still remains the light from the lighthouse, testifies that as long as people are capable of such actions, all is not lost.

The tape, among others presented in the program, differs in the style of poetic film prints. At the same time, the film is also a certain collection of cliches: there are quotes from Alexander Pushkin, and an address in party rooms, and children's fairy tales and patriotic songs. Thanks to the author's technique, these things sound somewhat alienated - and this narrative is gradually becoming a thing of the past.
