Structure of Polish Society: Changes in the structure of the Polish society after 1945

Since 1949, attempts were made to collect the village according to the USSR. In addition to state farms, efforts were made to create production cooperatives and the transformation of landowners farmers in agricultural workers. The authorities tried to convince farmers to join these cooperatives. Opponents were punished with higher taxes, binding harvest or poor supply. In 1956, the collectivization program refused. At that time, 77% of the land was in private hands, about 2% were owned by the cooperative, and 20% belonged to state farms.
At the same time, there was a rapid outflow of rural population, especially young people, in the city. In connection with the intensive development of the industry, labor was required. The youth from the countryside, as a rule, is poorly educated, it could easily get a job in the city. Initially, they were engaged in the construction of large industrial enterprises - such as, for example, Nowa Huta. In the first years of industrial development in the Polish People's Republic, it turned into a cheap and non-specialized labor force, which subsequently became the basis of the country's development.
Changes related to the system transformation ultimately touched on the intellectuals. The pre-war representatives of this group seemed to be suspected authorities, so attempts were made to oust them on the side of society. Replacing them with people of social progress, but also often deserve respect for the introduction of the socialist system. Guidelines were filled in not taking into account education and experience, but on party tasks. Efforts were also made to create a new intelligentsia to meet the needs of the state in loyal white collars.
A characteristic feature of the social structure of the Polish People's Republic was the emergence of a new layer associated with the implementation of power - the so-called party-state apparatus. All legislative, executive and judicial authorities focused in the hands of this privileged group. Representatives of the device also carried out control over coercive measures: army, militia and security service. Thus, their power was almost absolute. Contrary to the assumptions of the socialist system, membership in the party-state apparatus was not class-dependent. It was not available to workers or peasants, but above all those who had the right way of thinking and acted in accordance with the party's guidelines.
